Well it's been entirely too long since I wrote on here - it's bordering on ridiculous how horrible I have been for not keeping up with it.
So many things have been going on since I last wrote that there is no way I could ever ever include it all. Max was 22 weeks old yesterday and time is honestly and truly just flying by me. The last few weeks Max has been getting his first tooth - good thing he has a dentist at home to take care of him! :) So he has been a little more irritable than usual - especially in the evening times.
About a week ago I was finally able to let him sleep in his own crib - we bought new baby monitors that weren't as static-y and so clear I can hear him breathing on it. That gives me mostly enough peace of mind to sleep away from him every night - but I still check on him a lot !
Max is just such a very very happy baby. He is so content most of the time, loves to play and laugh, and is rarely fussy. We have so much fun playing with him. His favorite song is I've been working on the railroad - when I sing it I am goofy with him and he just laughs --- he loves the fee - fi - fiddly-I-Oh part at the end. So cute!! He loves for you to hold his hands so he can stand up and look around. He sits up pretty good but not all by himself yet.
No rolling over yet but I think that's my fault because I don't put him on his tummy enough because he seems to hate it so much. A month or so ago we started Max on rice cereal - he just loved to eat - even though he was quite a mess!! Now he has eaten bananas and sweet potatoes. (I learned from my cousin that I wasn't supposed to start with fruit - or that's what the baby books say but I don't have time for baby books and I think I am doing okay without them )! :)
We started looking for houses in April and May and fell in love with one in Crosby - which is where we wanted to move so that I could be close to where I want to practice after school is out. We put in an offer and closed on the house June 12th. It is brand new! Nice laminate wood floors and granite counters! I feel like we have really made it! Our lives have changed so much since we met. Since I started dental school I got engaged, married, had a baby, and bought a house ---- unbelievable! School is whizzing by and I will be a dentist next May!!
So Max loves his new house and his new room. We are so happy here and the dog is in hog heaven having a huge back yard to play in.
So let's see what else has Maxwell been up to!? He's growing like a weed! When we took him into the doctor for his four month immunizations he was 16 pounds and in the 98% for height and 75% for weight. Everyone always thinks he is older than he is because he is so tall - but he's not fat! :) - okay so he does have adorable chubby little thighs!
Funny things we have learned - Max loves TV. I try not to let him watch it but if it's on he will do exorcist like moves to turn to see it. And if it's baseball --- he just stares at it and LOVES every minute. Literally the other night he was screaming and I took him in the living room and put baseball on and he watched it and put all his fingers in his mouth. He was happy! Seriously! And if we are at a restaurant and there is a TV across the room he will find it and he will want nothing to do with you as long as he can see it! His really favorite thing to watch has been baseball - he seems to like all sports really but baseball just shuts him up and he is perfectly content! We have really enjoyed this and laugh about it so much.
He also loves his dog Maddy. She licks him and he just loves to watch her and pet her. Max is a real talker and will just talk and talk all sorts of nonsense and we talk right back to him like it all makes perfect sense.
My mother got this toy for his carseat that he just loves and will play with for hours --- we aren't sure why he likes it so much but he does. He has this little stuffed dog that is multicolored and has teething plastic things for paws - and that has become his "baby" though Matt doesn't like me to call it that. That's his little friend and he is pretty content holding him and going to sleep. Max has really enjoyed some pool time this summer in several baby pools we have bought and a fun bathtime tub that doubles as a swimming pool!
Max loves books - I mean just loves them. When he was in daycare they told me when they read the kids stories he was the only baby who paid attention the whole time and he was just talking and talking. He loves books and he just talks and hits the book and loves to see all the pictures. His two favorites are "Max drives away" and of course the classic the very hungry caterpillar. He also loves his big animal books that have textured pictures - he goes crazy for those. He loves when I sing to him no matter how out of tune I am....
I am constantly getting compliments on how handsome Maxwell is, what a beautiful baby - and people like to say - "no really I mean it he is just a good looking baby!" He is my little man!
We went to Florida in May with Grandma Bee Bee and Aunt Brea and he had fun meeting all his Florida family!
I am sure I could go on forever about all the wonderful things about my son - but really I am just still so incredibly happy being a mom. It keeps life in perspective. I still like to hold him and watch him sleep. Sometimes I cry (I know surprise surprise) just watching how big he is getting.
I am so blessed. My family is so blessed. The Lord has truly provided for me and my new family. I am so grateful for my beautiful, happy, and healthy son and my wonderful husband, parents, in-laws, sisters, and friends. I am a lucky lady!
All our love from Crosby!!! :)
